About this policy
This policy describes the Pointless Observations iPhone app from Useless Instruments. It applies to the app itself.
No accounts, advertising, or tracking
The app runs its visual observations locally. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics services, or tracking. It does not access your location, camera, microphone, or contacts.
Preferences on your device
The app stores settings such as your language, brightness, and last selected observation locally on your device. These settings are not sent to us. You can change them in the app. Deleting the app removes its locally stored preferences; device backups are managed through your Apple settings.
Optional reference links
Some formula panels include links to external educational resources, such as OpenStax. Opening a link takes you to a third-party website, whose own privacy policy applies. Those sites may receive normal browser information when you visit them.
App Store purchases
Apple handles App Store purchases under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your payment-card details through the app.
Support communications
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to share and use it to respond to your request. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in support messages.
Children's privacy
The app does not collect personal information from users of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the app's privacy practices change, we will update this page and its effective date.
